What to wear

Family Session

The most important thing is to be yourself and wear something that you feel great and comfortable in according to your own style.

Something that you can move in easily is important. For women I recommend dresses, especially flowy ones, if you like wearing dresses. These look great on camera especially with movement.

Stay away from graphics and florescent colours. Some people opt for more neutral and earthy colours, while others like pops of colour. I don't have a preference as I think both can look great. Go for what you like and what you feel good in.

In terms of the other family members, it’s good to coordinate what you are wearing but no need to match. Choose colours that complement each other. The most important thing is that everyone feels themselves and comfortable in whatever they wear.

Dress in layers, particularly during the cooler seasons. Layers add interest but also allow for removing clothing if it gets warm.

Don't forget shoes and accessories are important too. Think about how the shoes will match as well as necklaces and headbands etc. These items can add a pop of colour too!

Please note that if we have decided on a river or beach location for your session during the summer months, then don't worry too much about shoes as these will come off for the majority (if not all) of the session. Also, be prepared to get a little sandy and for bottoms of clothes a little wet.

I'm happy to chat wardrobe further if you would like, just let me know!

Maternity Session

Pregnancy is so many things. It is joyful, beautiful, and often hard, if we are being honest. As you have seen in my portfolio, my images are organic and natural, capturing who you are right now. I will never ask you to wear an uncomfortable gown or place you in uncomfortable positions. My goal is to capture the beauty that is your pregnant body and to also capture the connection between you and the little person inside you.

We will also celebrate these last moments as a family of two, three, or whatever size your family is right now. I think it is special to have memories of what your family looked like right before the new addition arrives.

Choose your outfit first - it's your time to shine! The most important thing is to be yourself and wear something that you feel great and comfortable in according to your own style, and then build the rest of the family’s outfits around yours.

I want you to feel your best. I find that long dresses, especially flowy ones, seem to be the most comfortable and allow for easy moving, however it is entirely up to you. Something that you can move in easily is important.

In terms of baby, I suggest you have your newborn in a simple onesie that is formfitting with no graphics or words. This usually means a preemie or newborn sized onesie.

Feel free to gather a few favourite swaddle blankets for them to be wrapped in.
